I honestly don't think phenotypes should be a part of this discussion. Italians, Iberians, Greeks and Jews had tremendous ripples in European culture, but they're dark.

Isn't Islam in the Balkans rather tame compared to even Islam in Turkey though? I don't believe Bosniaks or Albanians wear hijabs, nor are they polygamous. And while Albanians still commit honor...
