That goes for most of the current neoliberal order, bro, no matter if the country in question is high or low income. Slavery has never been done away with when the chips are down, what has changed is the form the coercion takes.

The gap in racial attitudes between White and Black people is not as big as some assume - the difference being that, except in some countries like the US and South Africa, the latter's attitudes are rarely probed and surveyed like the former's are.

I knew a rich kid in college whose family owned lots of crop land. He used to say "Illegal aliens were the greatest thing since slavery"
. cut off the jobs then most of the illegal immigration is cut off. For the most part, the only ones left crossing will be the drug runners.
However, the rich ones pay off politicians on both sides. So that just isn't going to happen let alone even mentioned.
