Are Croatians Slavic or Germanic?

I do not think that Slavic and Germanic can be considered ethnic sub categories!The portuguese for example are a latin people,but they do not descend primarily from the romans,because romans were only a rulling elite in Lusitania and didn't mix much with the locals,these locals are the ancestors of the modern portuguese,not the romans,but the portuguese language is latin language,wich is result of roman presence.An italian from Lazio probably descends from Romans yet they are not more latin than a portuguese due to their ancestry!That's the reason why slavic,germanic and latin are purely linguistic terms!

Yeah i guess you are right, I think the racial sub divisions of Europeans are something like Nordic, Alpine, and Mediterranean. So I guess then what is the racial difference between Slavs and other European people if these are the only three subdivisions?

Yeah according to Wikipedia Croats are a South Slavic ethnic group. So in this case Slavic seems to be the racial type and the linguistic type. But For the English their language is English but their ethnicity is Anglo-Saxons, but for Germany, I think Germanic is the term for their ethnicity as well as their language.

Anglo-Saxon comes from the Angles and Saxons - the Germanic tribes who invaded the Isles and gave birth to England (land of Angles)
