First of all, when we take a look at Serb gene pool, it is very clear that they are just speaking Slavic language, and that they cluster much more with Albanians than rest of the South Slavs. This is a good basis to begin with. Serbs and Albanians are two sides of the same coin.

It is also very good to know that most of Serbs in Croatia, were nothing but Orthodox Vlachs who fell under influence of Serbian Orthodox Church. As well if you take a look at privileges given to Serbs upon their arrival in Croatian lands under Hungarian crown - http://i32.tinypic.com/28rin93.jpg - " Majestam Carolum VL inclytae NATIONI ILLYRICAE medio " which basicly concludes view of others about Serbs and their Slavdom. Truth is that Serbs used Ottoman expansion to spread themselves in lands which never belonged to them, and no matter how much you try to portray your faith as tragic, without Turks, you would never reach lands never belonged to you.

Furthermore, Turks did you a great favor, that is perhaps why Remove Kebab Glorious Divisions of Heavenly People aided Turks in the battle of Nichopolis against Crusading Armies Remove Kebab.

Serbs have wrong vision of Slavdom, for them Slavdom means someone has to obey Serbs, otherwise he is not Slav.

Similar thing happened after WW2, Serbs tend to use every chaos in this region to spread. While my grandfather and his family were chased out of Slavonia, of whom many ended in concentration Camp Gakovo, Slavonia was soonly populated by communist Serbs from Herzegovina, Bosnia and less developed regions of Yugoslavia.

And similar thing happened in the last war, Croats who were chased out of Bačka (My parents as well) Krajina and Lika "Serbs" quickly became populated in the houses which belonged to other people. Similar like they did with Volksdeutschers after ww2.
Let us leave modern men to their ‘truths’ and let us only be concerned about one thing: to keep standing amid a world of ruins.

    Davai is provocating

Truth be told, Serbs did lot of evil in the past. Croats did too . I do not hate Serbs at all and have Serb friends. But things Bjelouška said are true, about repopulation of Slavonia and crimes against Danube Schwabians. My grandmother and here family were from Zemun, their property was confiscated and her grandmother died in concentration camps built for Germans. I won't say Serbs did that, partisans did that but anyway those crimes were never prosecuted. And about last war, I won't even mention it. No need, we need to look to future now.

Croats are not any kind of mytical nordic Gothic ''ubermensch'' but South Slavs which do overlap with our neighbours. I think some part of our gene pool is ''Germanic'', but I mentioned other things as well. We are proud people and love our country. And want to live in peace, so please respect that.

Slavonia is full of such cases, my paternal ancestors lived in Slavonia for 200 years before end of WW2. Always in good, friendly (later family) relations with Croats, Hungarians, Russyn and all other nations. Not a single bad word was exchanged, let alone a bullet. And after 200 years they were chased out like they never were there, that is why i still have more family in Hungary and Austria than in modern Croatia.

We have a saying in relation to Slavonia: "Those who did not have a happy childhood does not even live in Slavonia".

Croatians are slavs, ofc, they are one of the closest south slavs to plotting with the rest of the slavs. That being said, from my amateur 23andMe samples, a lot of Croatians admitted to having a German grandparent or great-grandparent. I guess this was the product of being in Austria-Hungary and the same religion as the Germans there.

I feel that Croatians view Germans more favorable than the rest of slavs. In WW2, they were on Hitler's side, and in 1990s they appealed to Germany for help and recognition. They have a complex about being scene as "central europe" (read Austria), and have nothing to do with Balkan or Eastern Europe. At same time, they purified their language of latin and Greek loan words. TBH. I don't understand Croatians too well, but they are not similar to Serbs except the ones from Dalmatia and Hercegovina.
