I think Turks and Greeks are very similar culturally, especially Turks from Pontos, Thrace, the Western Anatolian Coast Line and the Northern Anatolian Coast Line. Turks adopted a lot of Byzantine culture during the earlier years of the Ottoman Empire, and Greeks (as well as all Balkan peoples) adopted some Turkish culture during Ottoman times.

Black Sea region is mostly assimilated, they're conservative and nationalist and keep voting for the AKP. That's not the case with Western Turkey where AKP is largely unpopular in. Even if not the whole Western Turkey; here in Izmir there's a collective rage towards the AKP government. See how Iraq fell apart when it was a strong, unified nation because some regions felt they were alienated by the central government. The same thing happent in Ukraine as well. Turkey is also moving towards a civil war because the AKP simply keeps alienating other segments of the society that don't support the AKP. People are fed up with Erdogan intervening in individuals' private lives, restrictions on lifestyle and such. The pseudo-nationalists in Black Sea and these central Anatolians continuing to vote for the AKP despite all this tension, I take it they don't really give a fuck about Turkey's future. They should've learnt from the Gezi protests.
