I don't have much affinity to the English samples on G25 even though I'm close distance wise. I'm very Irish/Scottish shifted. Not really sure why I don't tend to get English on G25 models. Possibly if there was more English samples. I'd be closer to Northern English than Southern English for example.

No it's an interesting question and something I've noticed before. I know you're joking but I'm also curious why some of these things occur. Another thing is I get Swedish over Danish or Norwegian even though I'm closer to the other two distance wise.

It's just one of the lots of different ways that the algorithm has of modeling us with the available references, nothing more.

If you remove the Irish reference (and maybe a few others), it will obviously model you with a high% English with an acceptable distance.

No actually on models I will get some non-British populations over English. If the English samples were increased that might change. When I first got G25 Ireland was not even my closest country. I was closest to Icelandic but when the Irish samples were increased Ireland is now my closest and Icelandic is second.
