The English are are mixture of Celts and Germanics with a predominantly Germanic culture. Whether the Celtic or Germanic genes predominate is debatable and subject to many threads and many different conclusions by geneticists.
So for now at least it is best to describe us as a hybrid of both.

I agree. It gets tiresome having to describe each ethnicity all the time, "Germanic" is a nice and convenient description.
Argyll uses "Celts" a lot though which suffers from the same drawbacks which he is complaining about.
I think sometimes people try to make something seem like something it is not, with the English and Argyll that is undermining their Germanic heritage. I know he doesn't mean it like that, but that is how it happens when one part of heritage is prized over another part.
