Not everyone has money oriented mindset. Most of my friends are not like that, they are more interested in the hobbies, political views or lifesyle like a vegan wants a vegan partner etc. These are the main factors on an average date.
But if the money determines everything in your life then you will see the things differently and you will attract such money oriented peoples.

I guess genetics for at least greed, ruthelessness, and guile can be passed down.

I am NOT talking about rare, extremely rich individuals that appear in media.

What does wealth have to do with sociopathy? Average German is wealthier than average Nigerian, does that mean Germans are more sociopathic? Poor people cannot be sociopaths? Your own country, South Africa, is filled with poor sociopathic people. Btw: a rich sociopath will be seen as more desirable by women than a poor sociopath.
