I'm pretty sure they are way lighter in real life...

Seriously? I think you're underestimating the diversity of European phenotypes. There is nothing Turkic about their eyeshapes, in fact I would think that the Pontid areas ike Bulgaria, Macedonia, Romania, etc... may have on average smaller eyes than the Anatolian Turks do.
