I saw them a lot in movies (last comment edited a few secs b4 you posted this but U didn't see).
I'm exposed to mostly typical Indian Americans cuz I lived in Southerners dominated Queens regions and the current Texas town is full of IT professionals (pred. South Indians). Indian students in my univ are from all over India.
North Indians I met looked too different from OP girl.
I always believe Bollywood women represent top 5% of North Indian women.
OP girl is Bollywoodoid type and thus I said she's "very atypical"

There are quite a few of top 5% Punjabi / other North Indian, Pakistani descent women in the US then. Plus the majority of the ones I know are the ones raised in the U.S.

I think you're living a place where business skilled North-west Indians live.
My exposure is to Indian professionals neighborhood. They all show heavy weddoid (as Apricity calls it).
