In other words, when it comes to 'whiteness', do you consider pigmentation or facial features to be more important?

It is to prove that the term 'white' itself is stupid and ambiguous. Does it refer more to skin tone, or to facial traits?

Since the term white is only applied to some caucasoids the paki is 'whiter'

White in itself is not stupid, people just use it to define too many people now. It should have never been used for more than pale Europeans with type 1 or 2 skin and pink hues. Everyone else is not white. Real white people burn when they tan, or get red/golden hues. Both people in the op have enough melanin to protect their skin and when they do tan they will take on a darker tone like most ethnic people, non whites. The sole reason white skin has pink hues is because of its lack of pigment.

I chose these two celebrities because they are both lighter-pigmented than average for their respective ethnic groups, to the point where their skin tones could be said to be white or close to white, even though their facial traits are not European (nor Middle Eastern, at least in Lucy Liu's case).

Well alright, but what about Europeans with type 3 skin, who are a large percentage of people in the South of the continent and can even be found in much smaller numbers further North? Conversely, what about the small number of North Africans and Middle Easterners with skin types 1 and 2? This is where it gets hazy and blurry.

Lucy Liu can't be ''whiter'' as she is not Caucasoid just to begin with. This guy is white though according to common definition.

But my point is that, in terms of skin tone, she is 'whiter' than Riz Ahmed (though not by much). Thus, it shows what a silly term it really is.

No such exist, except those with albinism.

In the Turkish football team there are some blondish, fair-skinned players, not all of whom are Balkan descendants. Also, here is the current Lebanese Prime Minister for you: http://www.theapricity.com/forum/showthread.php?141336-Classify-Tammam-Salam-Prime-Minister-of-Lebanon

Anyway, let us stick to topic please.

She is only minimally lighter and there's nothing unusual in light East Asians, they're quite common.

But they are certainly not the majority.

I don't think she's lighter than them. Most Chinese is not brown but light beige with yellowish hue.

But either way, Riz Ahmed is certainly at the lighter end of the spectrum for Pakistan, though not so atypical either. Most Pakistani men look more-or-less like this:

Yet in the past, you've insisted that Pakistanis with his pigmentation don't exist. xD

hmm, this guy obviously looks "white", but generally i think north east Asians are more close to Europeans, than south Asians, even if first ones are not Caucasoid.
