Your link also says she was born in Andhra..N if her Dad is Christian (which it seem) , then that surname is simply concocted as afaik Chopra is exclusive to NW.Indians and not to Southies and that too , Christians ..

Dilip Kr din't changed just surname or even name only (due to non friendly atmosphere for Muslim decades back (in & after '47).But with change in circumstances , 'Khan' can even be a little surplus now.
Some change name or resort to other superstitious practices simply as amulet.
Some other change surname resembling established ones (as pointed out by recently released movie also) & to seek out connection as to get succeeded in BW , some connection is always must.Most of top - not so top stars have emerged or get 1st chances due to such connection or family links only.So , no surprise , this by hook or by crook trend just for little added surplus is engaged into by despos.
