What makes him look Jewish or Iberian??
Looks like he would have fit with some of the very Southern Germans, but he has traits that draw me further down towards Southern Europe. I would rule out Czech. Very fancy fella, nonetheless.

Very nice cabinet card, Max. You should upload some pictures at the old family photos thread in the regulars' section.
I think this man would pass in all three countries. I would say more Czech though, contrary to Jute's opinion, only because he reminds me of a Czech guy I know.

Thank you for saying that my ancestor is very fancy fella. :)
What are the traits that draw you further down towards Southern Europe? When I look at him I don't see Southern European.

Interesting. I really don't know where he comes from, all I have to work with is his picture. He might have been Slav from what I hear.

South East would have been more correct of me to say. Probably some sort of South Slavic influence so former Yugoslavia.

That's very interesting that you say that. I score 1.1 Balkan on 23andme.

That would make good sense, I'm sorry for the less specific answer earlier. A wee bit too quick.

So you really think I might have Yugoslav ancestors or something? :)

Well, it's a guess. I don't see his characteristics as so common for the more Northern Slavic regions. I'd say Pontid traits are present and that's what made me think South Eastern Europe.

What about his lastname?
Does it sounds German or Slavic?
