São Paulo Futebol Clube ;p
I just love the typical combination of churrasco (http://www.buffetassis.com.br/images/slide/7.jpg) and farofa (http://aquinacozinha.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/Farofa-de-Calabresa.jpg) (pls, check the links).
No, I don't. I prefer MPB and indie rock then Sepultura is not my cup of tea.

I'm from Paraná - southern region. But my family is originary from São Paulo.

Difficult I'd say, our country is a madness after years of PT (Lula and Dilma as presidents), we have lots of scandals daily in political sphere; Rio De Janeiro and Brasilia are totally brokens; our education system is out of question same with social security, we are living a terrible crisis this year and it will go on in 2017 and maybe 2018.
The number of brazilians emigrating is even increasing since 2015 due to that scenery.

Well, a little. I never met any of my portuguese ancestors (they are great grandparents or great great grandparents, already died years or even decades before I was born), but my hungarian great grandmother was alive untill 5 years ago and used to live with my maternal grandfather. So we have lived together for a while and every christmas we still eat some austro-hungarian foods and this stuff.
Also, I like Hungary, is a very nice country and they invited me for study at Balassi institute next years. It's good.

Tobi

Well, I don't know, to be honest;
There is no a bigger cultural difference between southern Brazil and the rest, São Paulo is also more developed and richer than southern region; there is even an independance movement going on there ( 33% of the brazilians PIB is from São Paulo). If southern Brazil become to a new country one day, it will be the next Uruguay; like good standarts of living compared to Latin American, but still not a "first world" country or economy.

Not many of them, the majority wich I have met are old people who are portuguese born, son or grandson. My region has a strong italian influence, the standart white here nowdays is a mix of portuguese and italian, but being young fully italians way more common than portuguese ones.

I don't know. We brazilians don't have any contact with the culture of the latin america, tbh. Brazilians don't even consider themselves as latin americans but only as brazilians. We feel closer only to argentinias (it's a long history, basically a love and hate relationship).

We are "okay" with brazilians soaps, it's very popular here. I've googled "Chuan Miguel" and it's a cuban actor, hispanics soaps usually import white cubans or argentinians actors to their soaps haha

It depends on the region, caro amico, in my region we have contact with paraguayan culture, music, food and whateves :), me gusta el chamamé.
I have been there but they speak guarani mixed with spanish

But youre right, id rather refer to myself as Brazilian or south american, not latin american

Only boderline regions got this type of stuff (same happens in the border with Uruguay/Argentina). Also, remember: Mato Grosso do Sul was Paraguay untill we kill lots of paraguayans and stole it. It's normal some paraguayan influence on the new brazilian state.

Paraguayan people are welcoming, but its really sad what happened in the war :/

Why? It's the truth. Brazil, Argentina and Uruguay killed more than half of Paraguay's population (and basically all the men in productive age) and stole their lands and ruined the economy of the country.

Actually paraguayan people dislike Brazil and brazilians and they are right about it.

I didn't know that. But it sounds logical; Brazil is a big country, the language of Brazil is different from the rest of LA,...

Soap operas... the reasons why I asked about it is that characters in soap operas behave too emotionally (e.g. too angry, too hysterical, etc.). And this is very very very very unnatural for us.
Btw. it's interesting that main characters at LA's soap operas are usually white.

Portuguese is the great barrer I'd say. We don't listen to their music, don't watch their Tv shows and nothing. It seems like in latin america to brazilians only exist Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay and Paraguay (this one not because people feel closer, but for historic reasons like Paraguay's war).

People and also media do jokes about hispanics soaps here too, it's like: "oh, too much drama, you looks like a person a from a mexican soap".

hispanics are off white disorders, that's why they import light whites for their soaps dispite the fact of their country being mestizo, their standart of whiteness is not a mediterranean one like in Brazil, but a nordic one like in US

I remember of "to speak like a portuguese you just need to putt a potato in your mouth", it's an old brazilian joke. xD

But to me is not, seems fine, at least the standard accent, it seems like you just talk a bit more slowly and "para dentro". It isn't so different when you compare the accent from Lisbon and the one from São Paulo. But if you compare the one from Rio or Northeast and the azorean will be like "damn, what the hell is it!?".

I'm from northern Paraná, our accent here is the same of São Paulo (the northern region of state was colonized only in 30 ~ 50 years mostly by migrants from SP and Rio Grande do Sul).
People usually say it about the the accent from Santa Cataria due to strong azorean influence. I agree with it, if you talk with a person from Santa Catarina you will remember of the portuguese accent, specially if the person isn't from Florianópolis.

But the accent in southern part of Paraná and Rio Grande do Sul is different. Here in Paraná we have 3 different accents: Curitiba has its own accent, southern region (similar to Rio Grande do Sul) and northern region (similar to São Paulo).

Nice! Nowdays do you feel more conected to US or Ukraine? My brazilian state basically has the monopoly of polish and ukranian people in Brazil/Latin America.

Forgot the chickens, we used to have it but my dog is like a serial killer of chickens then we don't have it anymore.

You know, Hummels is the true TA's leader, sometimes I feel like people just came here to talk about him and Ariana Grande. xD
I just photoshopped that pic of him:

There was a debate between Atheist Astronaut and Doctor believer;

Astronaut says; "I was in space/universe and I didn't see God".

Doctor believer replies; "I was operating on human brain and I didn't see thoughts/memories in brain while operating"

Which one is you in this wise story lol, Atheist Astronaut or Doctor believer? :D

How are the Native Americans doing in Brazil, Tobi?
What is their lifestyle/ level of education/ social status...?

They have their demarcated lands and got some welfare monthly. The more isolated tribes are still living like 500 years or more. Others tribes are more aculturated and send their kids for a regular school outside their lands (the tribes have their own schools thought), also the govern give to some tribes computers, internet and go on, are as part of the native welfare. They have a different status of the rest of brazilians citizen also, the law to apply to them if they comite a crime in their tribe; for example, natives americans kill children with disabilities and they can't be punnished for doing this by the regular law (or for any law outside their owns tribes). It's an special status. They are special citizens according to brazilian constitution.

About education, the best universities here are public and free and have a racial quotas system. Basically, if you are a native american and want to go to university you must just choose you course and don't be analphabet to entry in a good public university.

Doctor Believer wins :biggrin

I'm born and raised in a catholic family from both sides. I had my "agnostic" phase some years ago, but somethings happened to me and now I'm a catholic praticant.

Atheism just sounds nonsense to me. I meant, the universe is so bigger, the world is full of mysteries and science still can't answer everything and never will. How a person will say wich has no god or at least a "something" doing everything or coneting everything if her own knowledge about the life and universe is so limited?

To be an atheist, a person at least must to know everything and has no doubts about nothing.

E fora do Brasil?

Yes, I a got one italian ancestor but it's too distant, I'm only 1/16 northern italian. I don't use it on my profile because it's minimal and I also don't want to be like Uhtred and claim that I'm italo-brazilian because I'm just 1/16 italian (like he did to portuguese one)

But I still have a faux italian vibe, people tend guess me as of italian stock IRL.

In which area / region of Brazil do you live ? Is is different from other regions of your country ?

I'm from Paraná - southern region of Brazil. (http://igrejadedeus.org.br/noticias/wp-content/uploads/2016/06/mapa-regiao-sul.jpg)

Well, Brazil is a big salad. My state for example has 3 different portuguese accents. But the standard of living here in south region is better than in the rest of country, it's not like "oh, southern brazilians are so wealthy and developed, it's like Norway", is more like Uruguay and Argentina.

I live in northern region of state, here is pretty closer and likely to São Paulo with a strong italian influence. The southern part of state got slavic and german and is like Santa Catarina or Rio Grande Do Sul.

About the differences, it's more euro shifted than the rest of Brazil. More tradicional euro stuff. A person in Vale Europeu - Santa Catarina, for example, can feel like in a mini Europe, check it (http://g1.globo.com/globo-reporter/videos/t/edicoes/v/vale-europeu-e-a-regiao-do-brasil-campea-em-qualidade-de-vida/4827047/)

Peru seems to be the most interesting hispanic country to me. They have machu picchu and nazca lines, no ones can defeat it. The ancients amerindians in Central America had a nice ancient civilizitation also, but not like the Inca Empire, imo. Peru and Egypt is just fascinating (but Egypt is way more fascinating, but Peru is closer of me).

About Argentina I've been only in Misiones and Buenos Aires. Is a nice country, good food and argentinians are very hospitable also.

For God's sake, people even wear t-shirts with his face. How so? He was literally a serial killer in my opinion, just a mad man.

Brazil is in crisis right now, our country is totally fucked due to years of PT and their leftist agenda. People have no jobs, 1 dollar = 3,35 reais now.
I also hate mercosul, it's part of the leftist agenda and it's help for our crisis. Brazil could sell for UK, rest of Europe, Canada, etc, but we can't do it because of Mercosul. In the years of PT they strengthened ties with hispanics countries and Mercosul but forgot the rest opf world. The logic is simple: we can sell more for the rest of world, the for mercosul, Bolivia or Venezuela, right?
But the leftist agenda is a shit.

I don't know, tbh. I've heard wich Brazil export trans people for Europe. It's not so uncommon see a person who is transgender here, in other countries they are probably way more rare.
They usually have zero respect by the rest of society, Brazil is a very christian nation. There are movements nowdays for equally rights for them and the rest of lgbt people, followed by non-whites positions and rights and privilegies also in brazilian society.
I think transgender people can use their social names on id documents now, I've seen something on Tv about it.

So for be a cardiologist in Romania you need of "x" points at least in the exam? Here after finish it you are oficially a "clinico geral" (like doctor of family) with no specialization. You need choose your speciality by yourself and study more 2 or 3 years at least. There are many people who prefer be just "clinico geral" for the rest of their lifes.

Yeah, I already supposed there would not be many Venezuelans in Brazil. Which is not strange, since after US and Europe, the Latin American countries they prefer to emigrate are the Spanish speaking ones, for obvious reasons (mostly Mexico, Panama, Colombia, Argentina and Chile).

And regarding Spanish immigration in Brazil not being noticed, it is maybe because Brazil received so many European immigrants from many different European countries.

Venezuela received a considerable Portuguese immigration after WWII, and they are very noticed by the Venezuelan society, despite of Portuguese and Spanish cultures and genetics being very similar to each other.

Brazil is like an island in Latin America/South America because of our language. We don't know the hispanics singers, Tv shows and even our Tv does not shows many news about Latin America. It has more focus in Mercosul countries (but is rare). Brazilians are somewhat self-centrics. Even the stores in Paraguay, for example, needs of people to talk in portuguese because brazilians see it as a freeshop and not a country.

Even the stores in Paraguay, for example, needs of people to talk in portuguese because brazilians see it as a freeshop and not a country.

I like Colombia since Chapecoense thing. They were great. But nothing against any country, tbh.

Venezuela could be a good place with all that oil. But Chavez and Maduro just fucked everything with their socialism.

I've heard about it. You stole some portuguese genes from us. We have the monopoly of portuguese people and ancestry in LA :laugh2:

Indeed, Venezuela has the second largest Portuguese diaspora, in all Latin America, just after Brazil :)

Really??? I can believe in it! I know residents who make around 1000 euros per week (on call two or three days per week) or even more (it depends of the city). Just come to new world for while after finish it and make lots of money :laugh2:

There is a difference between western and eastern (post-communist) parts of Europe in salaries and prices. Anyway, in the case of prices we "East-Euros" closing to the west faster than in the case of salaries.

Yes, I know. It's cheaper live in eastern euro countries than in western ones, the salary is part of it.

Is very good, we from Paraná are known as Pé Vermelhos. I drive my 4 x 4, date to agrogirls, no criminality, we are also the more better looking people in Brazil and the new Bandeirantes.

I never claimed to be Portuguese.
