Laconia has some connections to Crete. There are similar Cretans. I do perceive it as a Caucasian look overall though.

I actually think they differ a bit. I think Apulians look more Greek from the mainland (or generally southern Balkan) than Sicilians do. They obviously are closer to one another than either one is to north or central Italians though.

People from Syracuse, Ragusa, and Enna probably look most like Apulians, or like Greeks, out of all the Sicilians.

I think Calabria and Campania look more like Sicily.

Some groups or Individuals in the Mainland are more distinct and respecitvly some in the Islands

But in general the differences are vastly exagerated

Mainland Greeks in general don't look more similar to other Non Greek Balkan people than to their Aegean Greek neighbours in the Islands imo
