If there had been a proto Caucasoid, proto Mongolid people, before their divergence, Finns should look the closest to them. They look like Asians with Caucasoid forward growth. This makes them compact faced like Asians, facially grown like a Caucasoid. I like this balance.

They have plate alike faces. They lack smth for sure. Facially the best grown Asians are Turkics and they are Eurasians actually. I dislike flat faced Asian women, but Turkic have have that Finnish combination mostly.

In these photos of Khanty, the woman in the upper right corner has by far the lowest forward facial growth. Her face is also by far the narrowest, and she looks the most Caucasoid.

Gracilization has reduced both forward facial growth (i.e. the depth of the face) and the width of the face. More gracile Mongoloids look more Caucasoid, and more robust Caucasoids look more Mongoloid. People who have a large mandible also tend to have large malars, and vice versa.

However the magnitude of the Holocene decrease in both cranial capacity and prognathism has probably been smaller among East Asians than among Caucasoids. And in the paper I linked to in my previous post, the basion-prosthion to basion-nasion ratio was lower in Japan and East Asia than in Northeast Asia, Southeast Asia, or the Americas.

It is somewhat flattened on the naso-malar level and sharply profiled on the zygo-maxillary level. The orbits are medium wide and low, both absolutely and relatively. The pyrifirm aperture is rather low and medium wide. The nasal bones are medium wide and convex. The dacryal and simotic indices are large. Due to poor preservation, the nasal protrusion angle was measured on one cranium only and turned out to be large. The distinctive characteristics of the Kylalahti Kalmistomäki series then are general robustness, a long, wide, and extremely high vault, slight facial flattening at the upper level, combined with sharp midfacial profile and convex, sharply protruding nasalia.
