Looking at the plants and at the bush behind him I have a feeling this gentleman could be from Southern Europe... Italian perhaps?
But he could be as well English, French, Slavic etc. Old [white] people (and babies) tend to be all the same.
Young people on the other hand are never more specific for their ethnicity than in their early 20's (i.e. when they are in age of being a soldier).

It's because he looks European, as well as many other Levantines.

Lebanese definitely can fit in easily around s. Italy and Greece.

An Armenian would overlap much better with any European than a Lebanese would, trust me on this.
