I love all kinds of food, so I don't necessarily have one favorite. However, I love pierogies and kielbasa, or bratwurst will do. I also love a Sunday meal of fried chicken and mashed potatoes with a nice fattening gravy, and topped off with some fresh green beans.

What would you do without Buddhist's wisdom? :D

I have no favorite meal/dish.

I eat what makes sense nutritionally, what body needs, when it needs food, only as much as it needs, not what desire wants. You wonder why? I knew you would ask that! :p The reason is very simple, to lessen the impact of ego, to weaken it, eventually to eliminate it all together by not catering to ego's desires. Why would I want to do that? Because ego is the MAIN source of stupidity.

Body is a biological machine and like any machine it works best if the fuel is the highest quality.

I know it does not sound romantic, but it's the best way to take care of your nutritional needs. I never sad wisdom comes with no price tag! :D

I prefer Italian, for obvious reasons, but I try to avoid gluten, and almost EVERYTHING is made with gluten. I substitute rice noodles, etc. for most things.

But, generally, I lots of eat stews and soups (I can cram as many vegetables in there), vegetable smoothies, salads, fish, and other lean proteins. I get most of my polyunsaturated fat from supplementation or the aforementioned fish/protein, and some saturated fat from bacon.

Rarely do i eat out, but if I do it's Vietnamese grilled chicken, or Japanese sushi (for the gf)

I am an omnivore basically, I am easy with food, I like tasting almost everything (asides yucky stuff like bugs or durian fruits of course)...

That been said, I like

Balkan cuisine (i.e. Greek, Turkish, Bulgarian, etc, stretching to the Middle East)
Italian cuisine (especially antipasti and pasta)
Nordic cuisine (its beauty lies in its simplicity and nutritional value)
Japanese cuisine (sushi, sashimi, etc)
Bits and pieces of Asian cuisine (Thai, Vietnamese, etc)
Baltic cuisine (similar to the Nordic but with a touch of Slavic)
Central European (German, Swiss) cuisine
Indian/Paki/Bengali cuisine

I don't particularly care for

Chinese cuisine (too much of artificial additives and frozen first materials)
East Slavic (Russian, Ukrainian cuisine)
Standard American (Burger and fries type of) cuisine
French cuisine (only because of too much butter, too many calories)

It's curious that the Portuguese food, the so called Atlantic diet, isn't much known. I guess it hasn't been adequately disseminated in the media and among us, even if we can read more and more articles about Portugal focusing the food, wines and the "slow living" concept, nowadays with the low cost flying there are thousands of people every weekend that fly here just for the food and that's remarkable. I am a big fan of food and wines, I've tasted a little bit of everything and I can assure you that our Atlantic diet and the Portuguese cuisine are top and can challenge any well-known cuisine.

This is a very popular dish and one of my preferred too:
Bacalhau à Brás. Boiled "salted and dried codfish" that blends with "straw" fried potatoes after fried onions in olive oil. The blending is achieve by mixing with uncooked eggs. It's adorned with olives and chopped parsley.
http://i1074.photobucket.com/albums/w420/1Catrau/Bacalhau_Braz.jpg

We can drink a good white with it but I would consider a "Reserve" red from Alentejo such as this fantastic "Esporão".
http://i1074.photobucket.com/albums/w420/1Catrau/Facebook/Alentejo/168623_1802711666071_1188234743_2107954_613226_n.j pg

I also like international food. I do particularly like Japanese (too expensive) because of the fish and the exotic Mexican. There are dishes with African influence in northern Brazil, for example, that I've seen on TV, that must be really good.

It's really weird how a herb that was very well known in Ancient Greece (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coriander#Etymology) and traveled via Alexander into the depths of Asia (becoming an essential part of many Asian cuisines) is today virtually forgotten in Greece. Nobody uses it or buys it. When I pestered my grocer to bring me some, she said, "Nobody asks for this, except the Georgians" :p

Bacalhau à Gomes de Sá is different, although most ingredients are the same.
You besmear a tray with olive oil and sequentially place, from the bottom up, a layer of sliced onion and chopped garlic, another layer of boiled codfish (previously soaked in water for 3 days with daily water change to gain moisture and eliminate excess salt), then another layer of boiled and sliced potatoes. Repeat those layers 2 or 3 times and powder each onion layer with a bit of pepper (caution) and chopped parsley. Add to the top some more olive oil. Adorn with sliced boiled eggs and olives. Take to the oven for 30 minutes.

Any good food is welcome. As long as it isn't dog, cat, bats, shark fins, swallow nests and shit like in China our southeast Asia it's fine with me.

I especially like Portuguese food, is very complete and ranges from meat to fish and seafood as well as a lot of veggies. With this I don't need no one else's "food"- or so they call it.

Just as a side note: I love Jewish bagels and pickles and other Deli stuff.

I also like to try bizarre food ,testing my limits ,I ate pork ,horse sausage ,snails ,seaweed ,ngapi (permented micro fish pickles)agar ,raw mussels, raw shrimps ,shark fin soup and some more I don't remember .(Weird Turkish delicacies are not listed since they are not weird to me ..ok two examples ,raw meatballs and sheep leg soup)

I want to try century eggs ,surströmming ,grasshoppers ,fugu (pufferfish ) but last one is not very likely because of its price and many more. I'm also interested in edible insects.

Incredible edible insects /Inside Mexico

A couple of months ago, I filmed an episodeof GEM at the Pre-Hispanic Gastronomic Fairat Santiago de Anaya, Hidalgo, where I ate fourkinds of insects. There were stewed stinkbugs, fried crickets, maguey “worms” (gusanos, actuallya type of caterpillar) and ant “eggs” (escamoles).

Let’s talk about gusanos and escamoles;they’re my favorites. If you’ve spent any time inMexico, you’ve probably seen the maguey cactus:it’s practically the national plant. You can harvest the maguey “worms” from the beginning of the rainy season in the spring until late autumn.Their taste is a mixture of bacon and peanutbutter—how’s that for a combo!

The preparation of these delicious “worms”is fast and simple. Give them a good wash anddry. Then, fry them in hot oil, add salt, supplywarm tortillas, salsa, and get out of the way!Your Mexican friends will make them disappearwhile you’re politely getting in line for a turn.

The popularity of Mexican food across Britain: https://www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/2016/dec/18/the-mexican-food-wave-sweeping-across-britain

I also like Mexican cuisine, and Italian, Chinese, Indian, Russian, Spanish, Caribbean, French, Lebanese, Greek, Thai, Brazilian, and the range of stylish and cool Japanese sushi bars here.

We're lucky to have over 70 varieties of world cuisine in the range of restaurants, take-aways, street markets full of exotic fruits, vegetables, and cheeses, cafes, and delicious street foods serving Indian, Thai, Chinese, Mexican foods across London. It's something I love about living here is the sheer variety of world cuisine available.
