He's German. Not everyone with a German name is Jewish there are still some actual Germans around (50 million in the US).

He looks like a German/British Isles mix to me. Anyways the so called "Jewish" names are actually German names. Jews adopted them German surnames to better integrate in German society. Many adopted names similar to their profession such as "Silverman", "Goldman". Coming from Silversmith and Goldsmith which were common professions among Jews.

Yes. And as such there's a predominance of those surnames among the Jews. As Jewbiz is also a common profession among the Jews, and they have a natural tendency to goofy comedy, it comes as natural to suspect on Letterman... I don't think he looks very German in traits.
