As I said here (http://www.theapricity.com/forum/showpost.php?p=3275&postcount=9), I'm part Karelian, so personally I'm very happy about Värttinä popularising traditional Karelian songs in the World Music scene.
I love this song, even though I don't understand all the words.

Marcia Religiosa from the third part of the Godfather trilogy, which is quite possibly among the best works of the film industry that ever came out of Hollywood. Late enough - all three - to be of fully enjoyable quality, yet, early enough to escape the rabid tides of political correctness, and present us a dramatic story surprisingly in tune with reality, without silly clichés and well-placed multi-cult lessons that are practically compulsary these days in a high-budget movie.

The sound of silence...the son has gone visiting, I`m in on my own, the winds have dropped, the sea is hushed, all is quiet as darkness has fallen here on the island. Only the ticking of the clock and the crackle of the stove break the silence. :)

I LOVE the Eagles! When teens of my age (um. long time ago when I was one!) had pics of Donny Osmond and the like on their walls, I collected Eagles LP`s. :D My fave...One Of These Nights...brings back so many good, carefree memories. :)
Mind you I also had posters of Chris Lee as Dracula on my walls. I was a strange girl. :D
Had eclectic tastes...Deep Purple, Slade and Sweet, ELO, Jethro Tull of course! Early Fleetwood Mac...but the Eagles will always have a place in my past. :) Thanks Mrs L.

A million points of light ascending to the sky
monuments in darkness standing watch untill the sun will rise
screaming to an emptiness of how we deified ourselves
with our hands over our eyes, claiming all of creation
what inspires in us this madness that our existence should be defined
by a light that can't be seen by anyone?
what inspires in us this madness that our existence should be defined
by a light that we can't see?
A million points of light ascending to the sky
monuments in darkness standing watch untill the sun will rise
I can't see this all as progress
how did we come this far when we see ourselves as deities
claiming nature for ourselves?
by our actions we betray the instincts in our race
by our blindness and stupidity we killed everything, we kill everything
Can someone see our self destruction?
are we reminding ourselves that our existence is so delicate
that without this light we are no more?
that without this light we've made we are no more
A million points of light ascending to the sky
monuments in darkness standing watch untill the sun will rise
we torch the earth until it bleeds, rain ashes from the sky
just to make a light that no one can see
just to make a light. Just to make a light we kill everything
by our blindness and stupidity we kill everything
in 1000 years what will be our legacy a million lights that no one could see?
a million points of light

And nothing is written in the book, reality is made by you
And every lie that you pursue, eventually turns true
And I was told that your eyes would shine, a light up into space
And infinity would then consume this ordinary place
You know nothing, you know nothing at all
How could you know, you'll never know anything at all
You'll never know, you'll never know anything at all
You know nothing, you know nothing at all
I saw you standing in the fire, beneath a crimson moon
The ocean whispered on the sore, and echoed in the ruins
Inside your body is a clear blue light, and time was made from this
Your shadows swallow everything it feels. You punish us with bliss
You know nothing, you know nothing at all
How could you know, you'll never know anything at all
You'll never know, you'll never know anything at all
You know nothing, you know nothing at all

Currently listening to Timehusk by Krallice. First time listening to this band and its off the self-titled album they released in 2008. They claim to be black metal, but I find myself wondering what it is they're doing here. The band is led by Mike Barr so I suppose I really shouldn't be surprised. Nearly all the songs on this album sound the same and are filled with the same goal as all of Barr's other bands: trying to appear "progressive" and artsy by writing ridiculously repetitive songs that are full of needless guitar wankery. The vocals are horrible, on top of it all.
Anyways, I couldn't find any youtube videos for this, so I'll share what I'll probably be putting in next: Hordagaard's - Anti Human Anti Life album.

VNV Nation - The Farthest Star
YwlsziopzmQ
The will to greatness clouds the mind
Consumes the senses, veils the signs
We each are meant to recognize.
Redeeming graces cast aside
Enduring notions, new found promise,
That the end will never come.
We live in times when all seems lost,
But time will come when we'll look back,
Upon ourselves and on our failings.
Embrace the void even closer still,
Erase your doubts as you surrender everything:
We possess the power,
If this should start to fall apart,
To mend divides,
To change the world,
To reach the farthest star.
If we should stay silent.
If fear should win our hearts,
Our light will have long diminished,
Before it reaches the farthest star.
Wide awake in a world that sleeps
Enduring thoughts, enduring scenes.
The knowledge of what is yet to come.
From a time when all seems lost,
From a dead man to a world.
Without restraint, unafraid and free.
We possess the power,
If this should start to fall apart,
To mend divides,
To change the world,
To reach the farthest star.
If we should stay silent.
If fear should win our hearts,
Our light will have long diminished,
Before it reaches the farthest star.
If we fall and break,
All the tears in the world cannot make
us whole
Again.
We possess the power,
If this should start to fall apart,
To mend divides,
To change the world,
To reach the farthest star.
If we should stay silent.
If fear should win our hearts,
Our light will have long diminished,
Before it reaches the farthest star.

I pressed my face against the glass, smiled as my breath made some pattern or other
The world beneath unfurled before me like a sail, glinted in gold from this rich dawn sky
Awaiting the ship they had told me would come, quietly anticipating that wich was to come
I couldn’t yet see you. Still obscured by the city did I blind as I watched? Did I close my eyes? I was not alone, I think it was the first time
Watching you rise splendid and graceful, I cheered as you sailed, a greatness unknown
I laughed as I waved and imagined you saw me
In the streets of the city, the windows of buildings, a million faces gazing upwards in wonder
A million faces together and cheering and smiling
You were the warmth of their hearts, you were the sum of their dreams
In the coldnedd of morning you brought warmth to their hearts, you were the sum of their dreams
In the coldness of morning you brought warmth to their lives giving this feeling of wonder
I could not imagine you unlocking rhese thoughts no book and no picture could ever convey
This feeling and morning had opened a door. I stepped into a new world watching you fly
Saw you as a friend, the spirit of dreams
I imagined a new world, lands far away, imagined those faces as you hung in their sky
I’m leaving ground stepping into a new world. I’m leaving ground, a new world
And watching you fly I stepped into a new world
I was not alone, I think it was the first time
I’m leaving ground, stepping into a new world
I’m leaving ground, stepping into a new world
Now I’m leaving home, leaving everything
I step into this world leaving everything
I’m leaving ground, stepping into a new world
I’m leaving ground, stepping into a new world
How I’m leaving home, leaving everything that I have ever known
I step into this new world leaving everything
Leaving everything, leaving everything.

I had a vision last night, my god was glowing
There was another bridge on fire
And the last wrecks were counted
The sky opened and the blood flowed
A distant cancerous season was upon me
I had a hook in my back and a light to guide me
My words were useless again
The leftovers were playing with my memories of love
I screamed at my god and he let me go
I drifted silently to the desert and began to pray
I came to a pile of ashes and sifted
through it looking for teeth
A snake spoke through me again
But I could not heal their wounds
I'm searching for the old spirit of war
With my rough hands and a sharp knife
I need something to cut into so that
my god can see me again
To be right again
To see my shadow alone
To get back to the hook and let the light burn in my soul
All I've seen walking through the fire
The figures in my dreams
Run back on me in a psychic scar
As I ride to the dawn

Rory Gallagher - Shadow Play
1978
In the flinty light, it's midnight,
And stars collide.
Shadows run, in full flight,
To run, seek and hide.
I'm still not sure what part I play,
In this shadow play, this shadow play.
Well, In the half-light, on this mad night,
I hear a voice in time.
Well, I look back, see a half-smile,
Then it's gone from sight.
Tell me, why everyone have changed,
In this shadow play, this shadow play,
I have to find my way,
In this shadow play.
Sounds come crashing,
And I hear laughing,
All those lights just blaze away.
I feel a little strange inside,
A little bit of Jekyll, a little Mr. Hyde.
Sounds come crashing,
And I hear laughing,
All those lights just blaze away.
I feel a little strange inside,
A little Dr. Jekyll, a little Mr. Hyde.
Yeah.........
Thoughts run wild, free as a child,
Into the night.
Across the screen a thin beam,
Of magic light.
Tell me why things don't look the same,
In this shadow play, this shadow play,
I have to find my way,
In this shadow play.
I have to get away,
In this shadow play,
Well help me find my way,
In this shadow play,
Yeah..........

A Canção de Lisboa
Composição: Jorge Palma
Os serões habituais
As conversas sempre iguais

The Clash - Rock The Casbah
1982
Now the king told the boogie men
You have to let that raga drop
The oil down the desert way
Has been shakin to the top
The sheik he drove his cadillac
He went a cruisnin down the ville
The muezzin was a standing
On the radiator grille
Chorus
The shareef dont like it
Rockin the casbah
Rock the casbah
The shareef dont like it
Rockin the casbah
Rock the casbah
By order of the prophet
We ban that boogie sound
Degenerate the faithful
With that crazy casbah sound
But the bedouin they brought out
The electric camel drum
The local guitar picker
Got his guitar picking thumb
As soon as the shareef
Had cleared the square
They began to wail
Chorus
Now over at the temple
Oh! they really pack em in
The in crowd say its cool
To dig this chanting thing
But as the wind changed direction
The temple band took five
The crowd caught a wiff
Of that crazy casbah jive
Chorus
The king called up his jet fighters
He said you better earn your pay
Drop your bombs between the minarets
Down the casbah way
As soon as the shareef was
Chauffeured outta there
The jet pilots tuned to
The cockpit radio blare
As soon as the shareef was
Outta their hair
The jet pilots wailed
Chorus
He thinks its not kosher
Fundamentally he cant take it.
You know he really hates it.
"Rock the Casbah" is a song by The Clash, released on their 1982 album Combat Rock. It was later released as a single, and is their only song to become a Top 10 hit in the United States, reaching #8 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. It is the band's highest charting single worldwide.
Political impact
The song became an unofficial anthem for U.S. forces during the first Gulf War, largely on the basis of the line about dropping "bombs between the minarets" the first song played by Armed Forces Radio at the start of the war. This is ironic given the band's well established left-wing stance. The song can also be understood as a message that western rock and roll will help defeat radical Islamist regimes by winning over the people of the Middle East, especially the young.
In 2006, the conservative National Review released their list of the top 50 "Conservative Rock Songs", with "Rock the Casbah" at #20, noting its frequent requests during the Iraq War. Despite, or perhaps because of, its popularity with soldiers during the Gulf War, "Rock the Casbah" was one of the songs deemed inappropriate by Clear Channel following the Clear Channel following the September 11, 2001 attacks.
In one of the campfire scenes late in the 2007 documentary Joe Strummer: The Future Is Unwritten, a Granada friend states that Joe wept when he heard that the phrase "Rock the Casbah" was written on an American bomb that was to be detonated on Iraq during the 1991 Gulf War. The friend avers that he heard Joe say, while crying, "Hey, man, I never could think that a song of mine could be written as a death symbol on a fucking American bomb."

Well, this plus the whole kebabs fiasco puts you over the top, I'm, afraid.

Black Sabbath-Spiral Architect
1973
Sorcerers of madness
Selling me their time
Child of god sitting in the sun
Giving peace of mind
Fictional seduction
On a black snow sky
Sadness kills the superman
Even fathers cry
Of all the things I value most of all
I look inside myself and see
My world and know that it is good
You know that I should
Superstitious century
Didn't time go slow
Separating sanity
Watching children grow
Synchronated undertaker
Spiral skies
Silver ships on plasmic oceans
In disquise
Of all the things I value most in life
I see my memories and feel their warmth
And know that they are good
You know that I should
Watching eyes of celluloid
Tell you how to live
Metaphoric motor-replay
Give, give, give!
Laughter kissing love
Is showing me the way
Spiral city architect
I build, you pay
Of all the things I value most of all
I look upon my earth and feel the warmth
And know that it is good

Black Sabbath- Sabbath Bloody Sabbath
1973
You've seen life through distorted eyes
You know you had to learn
The execution of your mind
You really had to turn
The race is run the book is read
The end begins to show
The truth is, the lies are old
But you don't want to know
Nobody will ever let you know
When you ask the reasons why
They just tell you that you're on your own
Fill your head all full of lies
The people who have crippled you
You want to see them burn
The Gates of Life have closed on you
And now there's just no return
You're wishing that the hands of doom
Could take your mind away
And you don't care if you don't see again
The light of day
Nobody will ever let you know
When you ask the reasons why
They just tell you that you're on your own
Fill your head all full of lies
Where can you run to
What more can you do
No more tomorrow
Life is killing you
Dreams turn to nightmares
Heaven turns to hell
Burned out confusion
Nothing more to tell
Everything around you
What's it is coming to
God knows as your dog knows
Bog blast all of you
Sabbath Bloody Sabbath
Nothing more to do
Living just for dying
Dying just for you

Melancholy Galliard - (as played on a Renaissance Lute by Englishman Alan Lowe-Jones)
Written by John Dowland (1563-1626) a contemporary of Queen Elizabeth I.
A moment of calm and reflection after the thundering Requiem before hitting the shower and doing something with my precious life :D

A beautiful rendition of Finlandia (http://virtual.finland.fi/stream/finlandia.wav.ram)
(you might need a Real Player)
The Finlandia Hymn is here performed by one of Finland´s leading chamber choirs, Jubilate.
