Respect Shepherds, don't be fool
Don't make jokes about shepherds like you are the King of World. It's one of the best job for a peasant in history. The other peasants slave away in the field but the Shepherd is all about freedom, perks, and those ancient Vlach laws from the Austro-Hungarian era. Back then, shepherds had the way. They didn't pay taxes like the rest of us. They had those Vlach laws on their side, old customs that gave them special treatment. Taxes were a pain for others, not these folks.
Imagine this: a shepherd, roaming the hills and valleys with the sheep, no tax collector in sight. They'd graze their flock on common lands. Thanks to those Vlach laws, no one harm them. But it wasn't just about cash. Shepherding was a way of life. Gathered around the campfire and telling stories and songs, passing down the traditions. Shepherd culture is not just history. It's the tale of privileges and freedom, a life deeply tied to the land. And it's still part of Balkan history even in this new land.
