Millions of films about lawyers and law and almost none about electric engineers despite you feel yourself superior.

Not to be a devil’s advocate but being a lawyer is not for everyone. I personally found law school to be extremely boring although I did really well. I ended up quitting in favor of STEM and had zero regrets.

Law school is extremely boring, that is why so few graduate, at least in Europe. But job itself is extremely interesting and rewarding and well, if you are capable, pays very well.

Or working for someone else, I've took courses for digital marketing, building professional websites etc (web designer).

I sometimes get on Yelp and contact several restaurant owners or other business that might have a website and call them If they are interested In getting their website freshly done, If they say yes I emailed them my portfolio etc In one client I earned $500 dollars In just a few hours.


People who don't have money on their bank it's because they lack creativity.

I have read several books, including part of the Bible. I used to read constantly in my 20s. I am a songwriter and I get inspired by movies as well.

I would have hoped that somebody who harps about religion as much as you would at the very least have read the Bible all the way through. (It's not very long, and has few big words.)

I think all members have read a book but I think there are few who read consistently and regularly. I do not say this because I think members are more or less intelligent but simply because from my observations most people are not avid readers. I personally see reading as something positive and it honestly leaves me a good impression knowing that someone enjoys reading. My alma mater is a humanities college so it would be odd if I thought otherwise. I also do not understand why fictional literature is being looked at in a bad light in this thread because the overwhelming majority of literary classics are fictionalized and nevertheless profound, complex and psychologically challenging. If Dostoevsky were alive today, his novels would probably be best sellers too and that wouldn't make his work any less relevant or profound. He was very popular in his time too. Not everything that is popular is necessarily bad, we just have to know how to separate the wheat from the chaff. And not everything that we perceive as bad may necessarily be "bad". Many authors were completely ostracized and ignored during their lifetime, only to become classics of world literature long after their death.

Did your school have literature classes? That was my introduction to Holden Caulfield, and it worried me that I identified with him, especially when I recalled the unsavory types who thought of him as a role model. We had to read Hawthorne, Poe, Orwell, Steinbeck, etc. I read the Kurt Vonnegut collection for class, and I can't remember more than one or two passages from his books.

Education has declined so much in the American public school system. My dad and my mom were born and raised in coal camps, and Latin was *mandatory* at their high schools! No one but the super brains took it in my era, although I took Spanish. It went down the memory hole too.

Ah, yes. I too liked Holden Caulfield.

Apparently they kiddoes today do NOT relate to him. To today's kids he comes across as a spoiled over-privileged brat whose parents keep bailing him out and sending him off to yet another expensive private school. They feel that he needs to quit whining and take his meds.

The one thing about him that kind of irked me was that, even though he was only about fifteen, he already seemed to know his way around the NYC bar and nightclub scene. He was having a lot of fun for someone his age. Also, he seemed to have a whole rolodex of friends and acquaintances to call up and hang out with, which is odd for somebody who was supposedly so socially disenfranchised.

Money, friends, social connections, overly-doting parents, but he is miserable because he doesn't like having to write book reports.
