    Is this for real? It looks like it came from on old-fashioned American catalogue. Amazing.

    Really, these toys mostly reflect the innocence of a lost age of 'Aunt Jemimas' and yes, I was brought up with Black Sambo, Golliwogs and the rest!

    There used to be a restaurant in Macomb, IL, called "Sambo's." Yes, a family-style restaurant (think of a generic Denny's), and the secondary dining area had a mural of the 'Little Black Sambo' story on the coffered ceiling! No-one seemed to mind, back then! The place changed hands (and names) many times, and the last time I visited Macomb, it had become a family-owned Mexican place.

    BTW, this may be one of the greatest threads ever!
