As there is a "Mongolia admiration thread" here, so why not (lol) a Southeast Asia admiration thread.. Seriously there´s something fascinating about these countries at "the other end" in realtion to Europe. In this region, like Europe and the Middle East, there were early civilizational beginnings.. More precisely it´s about these countries; like Burma (Myanmar), Thailand, Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam, Malaysia and Indonesia etc..

The Philippines: fantastic food, the most beautiful beaches I have seen and a fantastic culture with the most warm and friendly people I have ever met and because of my relationship and my in-laws I can call it a home away from home. And despite of it's problems a cheerful and optimistic country. Where in Europe I feel stagnation - in the Philippines people still believe that tomorrow will be better.

























Indonesia: our ex-colony. With it's amazing cuisine, it's myriad of cultures. Definitely worth a visit.


Singapore: clean, efficient, surprising Western and still being hardcore Eastern.
