Portugal, we nearly used to be an English "colony" after the Napoleonic Wars. Does that count?

Thought that was just Madeira and the Azores. Yeah, you can be a "Honorary Englishman" then
I'm from Cheshire, its between the Welsh Marches and the Peak District. My ancestry hails from Kent, Lincolnshire and Cheshire in England and until recently my family farmed here for generations (By recently I mean 40 years ago ).

Ere's me;

My Grandad's from Northumberland, though, but I just selected the one option.
Where's Merseyside in your list then?
No.... Calm down Osweo.... BREEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAATHE.............
You know she only does it to try and get my blood pressure up...
Yep, we despise Scouse Scum, us Mancs, but they're still family!
Aem's Gran was just some filthy bog-trotting potato-muncher who was just passing through, though, no Aem?
Oh certainly! Appleby residents are mortified if you don't put the name in full as Appleby in Westmorland!
Best to ignore them and carry on as though the 'reforms' never happened. They were passed off at the time as 'only for postal purposes', but the new bodies have put loads of money and effort into persuading people of their 'legitimacy', to the extent that kids don't even know they're Lancastrians....Bloody government boundary changes.
Aye, us Lancastrians do our best to populate the wild wastes of the West Country. Just today, coincidentally, we had a surveyor round to the house, from Bristol, but with a rare Lancastrian surname - Heaphy.
