Catholics (cardinals, bishops, priests) also rape male children. I wouldn't look to them as any form of authority on sexual ethics. At least gay marriage is founded on consent

I'm sure rabbis rape children, it happens across all religions to an extent. But a cardinal (pardon then pun) difference between catholic priests vs protestant pastors/rabbis/imams is that Catholic priests are sworn to celibacy, and exist in a huge organisation that protects them.

Why do you bring children into this issue of consenting adults who want to commit to each other? They are not proposing to marry children or to to have unwanted sex with you.

Wars cause more evil, and and all branches of Christianity (and practically all religions) have promoted, supported or justified them.

I don´t think homosexuality is intrinsically evil, rather, those who create suffering are precisely those who believe that it is evil.

I am not agree to call these unions "marriage", but I don´t see any evil in these civil unions between people with the same gender.

And what does the bible condemn, homosexuality or promiscuity, be it homosexual or heterosexual?

I like you, Mortimer, and my time on this forum has been interesting as I've been exposed to many different opinions. However, one thing that bothers me, when examining religion, is that most followers seem to almost blindly accept religious documents as absolute truth, without ever questioning that particular document's unfounded and/or irrational bias toward another group. Plus, let's not forget that all religious texts have gone through numerous content-related changes throughout history.



I suppose I'm calling into question the validity of religious texts in general, given that so many preach peace and acceptance while also proclaiming the exact opposite within those same pages. What are your thoughts on this? There certainly has to be a God, as this universe that we live in (assuming we're even being told the truth regarding the nature of our existence) is too vast, complex, and impressive to be chalked down to so-called natural processes.
