It could also be argued that Yemenis are lighter than Eritreans

Southeast Asians and Northern SSA is an obvious example. Vietnamese people are generally paler in unexposed skin than any SSA group.

Indeed though it would be good to see less obvious examples than that, one could say that some Australian Aborigines are darker than some New Guinea people despite being further away from the equator.

sometimes it's difficult to see the "true skin tone" of someone without examples of unexposed skin. But anyway, the equatorial rule is broad and generalized. Lots of migration and mixing has occurred since.

Which is why Alot of this is just all moot, since skin tone which we visibly notice is determined by not only genetics but environmental factors e.g. Standard of living, climate , infrastructure ( countries with very little infrastructure are mkrre exposed to UV radiation), Altitude etc

British Islanders are paler-skinned than Scandinavians and Northwest Russians despite being somewhat darker-haired. Not other population in Europe that is darker-haired than Scandinavians would be fairer-skinned. Slovenians are not paler-skinned than Hungarians. The Danes have slightly a higher ratio of skin type 1/2 than Swedes, but their ratio of skin type 4 is twice that of Sweden. This could be said for us (Belgians) who have a very ratio of skin type (6 times) than Swedes, but our ratio of skin type 4 is around three times higher. Germans are very slightly lighter-skinned than Russians in terms of skin type 1/2.

I doubt it. These seems to be a legend that Welsh are significantly darker skinned than other Britons and even many continental Europeans. Here is Welsh comedic rap group Goldie Lookin Chain:

Do they really seem darker than most northern Europeans in skin color? I don't think so.
