Sarakatsanoi are definitely a Greek group. Like, absolutely Greek like all others.
Really, the only difference to other Greeks, is that they're transhumant (aka, agricultural nomadic) sepherds.
Their Turkish name means "black fugitives", because they were associated with people who fled from the Ottoman authorities dressed in black due to various crimes (or just fleeing persecution to be honest).
P.S. I just saw the "similar threads" below, and my God, Albanians back then were out of control. Thank God I wasn't active when these threads were created, I'd be confined in Greece's most notorious psychiatric ward at the moment.
