This Turkish airlines plane was en route from Istanbul to Shiraz on the Persian gulf coast but turned around over east Iran and is now heading back to Turkey. Israel was aware that it would be attacked for several days and Iran intentionally prepared this strike in a manner that it would be mostly intercepted by the iron dome. Now, it's true that this could go downhill. It remains to be seen whether Israel will respond and escalate even further.
