    Hey Balkan sis. First let me say my mom is Gagauz if that makes a difference. Turkic languages are interesting, because almost all are mutually intelligible at varying degrees, from Macedonia to Yakutia. Check out the Codex Cumanicus, the only recordings of Cuman language - it is practically identical to modern Turkish:

    They are Western Oghuz and closely related with Anatolian Turks however they are under strong Russian influence as a result of not having their own Orthodox Church but are part of Russian Orthodox Church. I expect that they will completely Russify within 50 years if no counterstep is made.
