Belarusians in general do not look like Russians. Obviously there are individuals that look eastern but the majority does not. I think this could be a good thread to post pictures of Belarusians from my instagram feed.

I want to edit my old claim. While western Russians like people from Smolensk are identical to Belarusians, overall Russians look different than Belarusians do.
I would go as far and say that Belarusians look closer to Lithuanians and non-Germanic admixed Poles than to Russians and Ukrainians (who also differ between themselves ofc)

Universal consciousness and language is one of main pillars of what is nation and it goes before haplogroups and phenotypes. If not Communism, part of modern Belorussia citizens would be Poles, other part Russians, in quite a natural way of superb urban culture absorbing the pastoral identity in era of rapid urbanization.
The elephants are heading South.
