If it was the Sokoto Caliphate who conquered Asia you would see the beauty standards flip. It’s a bit of Stockholm syndrome, and it happens in most of the world today.

That’s a good point, maybe this is related to the social hierarchy, since in the past, people who avoided the sun were considered more affluent and white skin was a sign of status as they didn’t need to work outside. I think it was like that in France too in the past.
