Most Germans dont pass in Southern France either so go figure. Was a few times there (not even the far South but Rhone Alpes region) and people wise I felt more like I was in Italy.

Southern France is darker-haired and darker-eyed, but still not quite as brunet as some areas of Spain, Portugal, Italy, Albania, Bulgaria and Greece. The Alpine strain sort of attenuates the swarthy attributes of the Mediterranean race there.

Yes that's true. I have been to Southern France twice, and they are certainly less Med-looking than in "Southern Europe proper". I'd even go so far as to say that Brits/Irish (not so sure about Germans) pass better in Southern France than Iberians and Southern Italians do in Northern France.

Surely it depends on the type of Brit though? someone like Nicola Sturgeon would look very typical there but someone like Tim Martin the Wetherspoons boss would look out of place i think.

I imagined like Asterix and Obelix and vercingetoris also french derrives from franks a germanic tribe i am maybe one of the few in Germany but i did not imagined them as meditteranean

And like all stereotypes, this one has much truth to it too. A lot of the French are like that, in part because a lot of them have some South European ancestry. Although even without that, they would still be like that simply because Gauls never looked largely like Asterix and Obelix and there is Roman ancestry probably more than there is Frankish ancestry. French are also shorter on average than all NW Europeans. But overall the French are diverse looking and especially in the North they have their share of very light people too.

I would still say there are fewer Britons who are utterly unpassable as ethnic French than there are Iberians or Southern Italians who are. Atypical isn't the same as unpassable.

What about Northern Italians who also have Gaulish, Roman and some Germanic ancestry? Aren't the French as a whole closer to them? Not too pale, but medium complected, shorter on average than NW Europeans, majority dark brown hair, high percentage of dark eyes. Sure, the French(especially northern ones) have somewhat higher percentage of light eyes and light hair, but is the difference that big? I don't know about distribution of phenotypes and don't even take that too seriously, btw.
