I personally don't think they represent a large % of the population these days(due to massive mixing),the ones that i have seen in that range were from Rio de Janeiro,you can find in other states too.

The Recôncavo Baiano, in Bahia, has the purest Africans in Brazil, genetically and also culturally.
Is the only place in Brazil which u can find multiple cities of majority black population, but also have a well preserved Expansionist portuguese culture with multiple Engenhos de Cana & Baroque Portuguese houses.
About 3/8 of my ancestry is from that area, but surprisingly they are mostly white/pardo.
