Much less than my posting style would suggest.

Do you have any lactose persistence variants like with rs4988235 or rs182549? I have none according to the SNPs used by Sequencing.com free lactose intolerance report, but I have almost never consumed milk so I did not expect that in particular.

I used to take prescription painkillers (Oxycodone,) SSRI anti-depressants, and sleeping pills (zopiclone,) for short periods following surgery.

I was once given morphine and codeine painkillers, but I couldn't handle the codeine because I vomited it back out within 20 minutes of taking it. I tried again with another codeine pill that a doctor gave me, and the same problem happened.

As for the morphine, a doctor gave me some morphine when I was admitted into hospital as I had intense and excrutiating pain and I was due to have surgery the following day. After taking the morphine, I spent the entire night in hospital unable to sleep and constantly scratching myself to the point I made my skin bleed due to an allergic reaction from the morphine. I didn't notice any skin rashes, but my skin felt so sore from intense scratching due to the morphine.

When I came round from the anaesthetic following surgery the next day, another doctor came along and suggested giving me morphine (again)... and I panicked and said no thank you. I told him I don't think it agrees with me, so he suggested oxycodone instead.

I liked the Oxycodone painkillers and the Zopiclone sleeping pills which I took for about a month, and then quickly weaned myself off at home without any issues. The doctors were surprised at how quickly I stopped taking them as many people have serious addiction problems to Oxycodone and Zopiclone - especially in the U.S. where the dosages are much higher, but in the UK the dosages are very small in comparison.

One of the problems with sleeping pills and prescription painkillers is that when people take them for long periods of time, they lose their effects. So they require increasingly higher dosages just to get the same effect. They become what's known as "accidental addicts" and start to abuse their prescribed dosages. (E.g; they take 1 sleeping pill or a painkiller, yet still can't sleep or still feel intense pain, but their mind is relaxed and care-free from the medication so they think it's fine to take another pill... yet still can't sleep... so they take another and another... and then accidentally overdose.)

If the medications are taken responsibly and the dosages are never abused, the medications are helpful for people who are in agonising levels of pain when over-the-counter painkillers (such as ibuprofen and paracetamol) aren't strong enough to help.

Prescription painkillers numb the receptors in the brain from feeling pain and have an opium effect of making the patient feel calm and relaxed with an uplifted yet calm mood of wellbeing.

Another time I made a box of 28 small Zopiclone sleeping pills last me for a year. (They're only prescribed for 1 month in the UK to prevent causing addiction problems if they're taken continuously for longer than 4 weeks.) I only took a sleeping pill as a last resort when I really needed it and found that they maintained their effects best when used less. I usually have no problems sleeping when I'm tired, but as soon as I take anti-depressants they always prevent me from sleeping normally. I prefer to use natural remedies wherever possible.

Now I only take a small anti-histamine most days (I'm anaphylactic) and always carry 2 life-saving Epipen injections to use in an emergency during anaphylactic shock.

I take no medications, but I take Melatonin to sleep well. It makes some of your dreams seem like acid (not the brown kind) trips.
