My mother's side was almost all English settlers in 17th Century Colonial Virginia. I know my family tree and that's more important than what some test says.

Your typical American family looks completely un-German. What they look like is somewhere between British Isles and dark Scandinavians.

A crowd of West Germans (North or South doesn't matter) could easily pass as your typical White American...
East Germans look a bit more different with their Slavic touch.
