To me Sardinians have some kind of "nobleness" in their faces, really. They have a distinct looking not only because they have phenotypes unfound (almost) in other places than Europe but also because of that.

Hmm, scratch that. Way too oversimplified answer, it's more complicated, when I think about it. Are we talking about average person? Then the average Basque would pass better in most European countries than an average Iberian of other descent, actually. Generally speaking, if that's this is the case, I really don't know. One can say something like Finland, but most Finns would reasonably pass throughout the Northern Europe. The same goes for Sardinians and Southern Europe. If we are talking about extremes, the most alien European phenotypes - in terms of passability in other countries - can probably be found in Finland, but they are rare, so not really representative. The question should be more specific.

To me, it's not nobleness. I find long faced types noble and fragile. They have robustness, fertility, strength and virility. Small nose, short face means resistance to punch instinctively.

Last month when Feiichy started a thread titled which women look more attractive to you, Finns or Sardinians ?, I downloaded the 512 first images returned by Google image search for the search phrases "sardinian women" and "finnish women". I then filtered the images based on various criteria, after which I ended up with a total of 120 photos of persons who I considered to be likely to be Finnish and 168 photos of persons who I considered to be likely to be Sardinian.

When I made morphs of the photos grouped by attractiveness, both the morphs labeled "Finns (best 8)" and "Sardinians (best 8)" ended up looking fairly robust, so that for example they have a wide face. I included the photo you posted in the morph labeled "Sardinians (best 8)".



In the morphs below, I think the morphs on the left side look better, because they look more robust, less MENA-like, and more Mongoloid-like. By "Asian-like eyes", I meant eyes that have high canthal tilt, that don't have prominent eyelids, that have a narrow eye opening, or where the skin of the eyelids is not dark. By "MENA-like eyes", I meant the reverse.

And Balkanic, plus minor exotic stuff. It was pretty clear with volleyball teams, individually overlap is huge but in groups they don't look alike.
I've been to Slovenia many times and they don't look like Hungarians.

Hungarians are mix of west and south slavs with germans plus minor legacy of old Hungarians which none of neighbouring nations have.
Group level overlap between most Europeans is highly exeggerated anyway. Most people have their own unique faces which locals can recognize easily.

I could post Stears entire family here and nobody who is knowledgable about Central Europe would guess them as Slovaks, Czechs or Slovenians, they look like typical Hungarians and nothing more.
